This course will enable PhD candidates to undertake a substantial research on a topic that will be worth adding to the original knowledge. The aim of this study is to prepare students for developing a critical-thinking ability and outstanding writing skills. The department will allocate a supervisor to you who will guide you throughout your research and monitor your performance to ensure that you are on a right track. You will also be encouraged to take participate in seminars, conferences and training to discuss your issues and develop transferable skills.

Description

The University aims to prepare candidates for conducting in-depth research of literature and relate it with cultural expressions across linguistic, national, and disciplinary boundaries. Supervisors will keep assisting you with producing a thesis to be valued by the academic community. The PhD in Comparative Literature at Kent can be funded through the Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) scheme, or through the Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts South-East England (CHASE) collaborative doctoral partnerships.

    A first or upper-second class BA honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, a distinction or merit in an MA programme or equivalent in a relevant subject and the appropriate language skills, IELTS: 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in R&W; 5.5 in S&L) (if English is not your first language)
